Investment Philosophy

​​​Chong Kah Capital is a private investment firm based in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. We are committed value investors that seek consistent satisfactory returns over the long term by investing in businesses that are undervalued.

We see the stock market as a place to purchase small pieces of quality businesses that are so often mispriced but with the power to grow their worth over time. We are patient investors.

Our approach relies heavily on our commitment for research excellence. We produce in house stock research and valuations using a refined value investing framework based on fundamental analysis. Qualifying companies should have excellent economics, superior financials and are selling below or at the lower end of its intrinsic value range. We believe over the long term, the irrational stock market will catch up and reward the patient investors.

At Chong Kah Capital we have the flexibility of a boutique investment firm in making investment decisions based on individual company merits and the price at which they are available for buying or selling. We are contrarian investors and we hold on to our conviction in managing our portfolio. The erratic movements of Mr. Market does not concern us. 

​We concentrate our capital in our best ideas, and when we are unable to find good investment opportunities, we choose to hold cash.

To achieve higher returns without compromising our capital reserve we use derivatives to complement our value investing approach. We are experienced options investors in both long and short contracts.
